WOOHOO!!!!!

It's RAINING!!!!  First time for the entire month of September!!  Thank you, Lord!!!

Hero night at Chick-fil-A

Tonight our local CFA had Hero night.  The kids could dress up as their favorite heroes and get a free kids meal.  They also had real-life heroes there to talk to the kids.  The Army, Navy and Marines were there, as well as the local fire dept and police dept. 

Cooper dressed as one of the Incredibles and he really enjoyed talking with all of the people there.  Noah wasn't quite as excited, but still had a good time.

It looked like he was actually smiling.  It inspired me to scrap a LO, using Flergs' new September Grab Bag.

That is the ONE thing that has been really hard with our new homeschooling schedule.  WOW, to whip out the hose and spray everything down would be cool.  Of course, given that we are in a drought and have strict watering restrictions, it could look even worse!  That is what I am going to tell myself anyway, LOL.

Saw this online tonight and just about lost my mind laughing!

I have a budding spelling GENIUS (did I spell that right?!?)

So today C (4yo) didn't have school and while N was doing his homeschool spelling work, C sat down at the table with a notebook and said that he too wanted to do school work.  Apparently he remembered that one of N's spelling words last week was Mississippi, so he asked how to spell Mississippi.  Noah hopped up and wrote it in C's notebook and came back to work on his own words.  So C sits there and copies the word Mississippi about 5 times and says, "Look Mom, I spelled Mississippi!".  I tell him how great he did and acknowledge that he formed all of the letters correctly and he moves on to his "math" work, which consists of writing random numbers down and saying they equal each other. 

Fast forward about 7 hours and we are at dinner with our best friends.  My friend's son starts writing letters with a crayon and even though C hasn't wanted to touch crayons at dinner for a year or more, OF COURSE now he has to write too.  He says, "I'm gonna spell Mississippi" and then out of nowhere I look down and darn it, he only missed one of the I's.  Without me saying anything, he writes it again and this time he remembers how to spell it correctly!

We were talking about it a couple of hours later and we ask him to spell Mississippi and he rattles off the correct spelling.  This is a four year old who can't read more than a three letter word yet, but he remembers the spelling of one of the longest state names.  Either a spelling genius to-be or a memory like a sponge. :) 

A Whole New Blog...

So I have decided that it is time for me to get back to documenting our lives better, even if it is for no eyes other than my own. The boys are growing up so fast and there are already so many things that I just knew I would never forget that are forever gone from my memory.

Today was a very fun, but busy day. Noah had his first outside-of-homeschool class. He is taking a monthly science class at a local environment & heritage center. His class today was on Living and Non-Living Interactions. He was there for two hours and had a blast. As soon as I walked in the door I was bombarded with, "Mom, I dissected an owl pellet!" His owl donor had apparently eaten a delicious mole and he was thrilled to see the little bones that remained.

I did do a few new LO's this month. The first two are CT LO's using new kits from Flergs. The first is using the Autumn Glory collab with Birgit Kerr and the second is with her new Noah kit (no relation, LOL). The third is just a hodge-podge of elements that I used to make this tribute page to 9-11 for the boys, as a reminder to never forget.
